This Slovak-language crime novel follows Harry Hole as he reaches the lowest point of his life. Rachel is gone for good, and this time she did not run away from him but threw him out. Harry returns to Sofies Gate, moving into an apartment one floor below the one he rented before becoming human again. He wakes with a terrible hangover, his hands and clothes covered in blood. He remembers nothing, but knows that in his situation it is best to be cautious. He sets out after his arch-enemy, and the trail leads him through the worst personal hell he has ever faced. In the twelfth instalment of the crime series, Harry Hole hits rock bottom.
