Measure for Measure Shakespeare William (2015)

A young man is condemned to death for breaking a law that forbids sex outside marriage. When his sister pleads with Lord Angelo to save him, he offers her a bargain: her brothers life in exchange for her virginity. One of Shakespeares most enigmatic plays, Measure for Measure is a morally complex drama of intricate moves and countermoves that explores falsehood, justice, and humanitys best and basest instincts. The edition includes an introduction by Julia Briggs and a quotation from A. S. Byatt on Shakespeares use of language.
