Maureen Fry and the Angel of the North Joyceov Rachel (2023)

The final novel in the Harold Fry trilogy, this deeply felt and lyrical story follows his wife Maureen as she embarks on her own pilgrimage. Ten years after Harolds epic walk across England to save a friend, Maureen has settled into a quiet life with him. Then an unexpected message from the North disturbs her equilibrium, and she must make her own journey. Unlike Harold, Maureen struggles to bond with strangers, while the landscape she crosses has changed radically. She has little idea what she will find at the end of the road, but knows she must get there. Full of warmth and kindness, this short, exquisite and powerful novel explores love, loss and how coming to terms with the past can help us understand ourselves and our lives.
