Marathn – LP

This LP presents a reissue of Olympics pivotal 1978 album Marathn. At the time, the band expanded its instrumental line-up and was preparing for several important projects. The album is still exploratory to some extent, but the arrival of permanent bassist Milan Broum suggests that, after a brief turn towards pop, the band is ready to return fully to rock. The nine tracks include two compositions by Petr Hejduk, while the remaining music traditionally comes from Petr Janda. Taky jsem se narodil bos, Tak jedem dl and ern kronika became radio and concert favourites, with lyrics by Zdenk Borovec on the first two. Broums bass drives the title track and several other songs. The restored cover is accompanied by an extensive text by Oldich Zmostn, while nine CD bonus tracks include related singles, the hit Ty slzy dvno vpila trva, a selection from the English-language album Overhead, previously unreleased live recordings from 19771980 and the legendary instrumental Sprcha. The remastered album is a historically valuable work anticipating Olympics emerging art-rock trilogy.
