Mama pre Veroniku (slovensky) (2026)

This Slovak-language novel follows Mria, a nurse who leaves her husband after ten unsuccessful years of childless marriage, despite believing that nothing beautiful awaits her beyond her beloved work and lonely evenings. Yet neither happiness nor misfortune lasts forever, and fate has a surprise in store for her. One day, a familiar man addresses her with quiet affection, inexplicable tenderness and sadness. He is holding the hand of a little girl, who asks whether Mria is the nurse caring for her mother. Mria notices the childs large, round eyes and realizes they are an exact copy of her mothers eyes. Every day, the girls gaze will remind her of that loss.
