Live Recordings / Concertos – 7 CD

This seven-CD box set presents live recordings from the archive of Czech Radio, featuring Karel Anerl as accompanying conductor alongside an impressive group of international soloists, Czech performers and the Czech Philharmonic and Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra. It follows the successful Anerl Live Recordings and Anerl Gold Edition series, and includes previously unreleased recordings. Among its principal highlights are Dvoks Violin Concerto with David Oistrakh from 1950 and the earliest recording here of Dvoks Cello Concerto with Mstislav Rostropovich from 1952. The programme also includes concertos by Beethoven, Schumann, Sibelius, Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Ravel, Poulenc, Stravinsky and Prokofiev, performed by soloists including Sviatoslav Richter, Emil Gilels, Wilhelm Kempff, Ivan Moravec, Eva Bernthov, Jan Panenka, Henryk Szeryng and Ida Haendel. The recordings capture the soloists and orchestras in authentic live performances and have been newly remastered from the original magnetic tapes.
