Leaves of Grass Whitman Walt (2017)

This clothbound edition presents Walt Whitmans Leaves of Grass as it was originally published, in a collectible series devoted to ten favourite poets. Designed by Coralie Bickford-Smith and beautifully set, the volume is based on the earliest published version of 1855. Walt Whitmans first poetry collection received great praise from the leading Transcendentalist poet Ralph Waldo Emerson, encouraging a lifelong project that Whitman expanded and rewrote until his death in 1892. His innovative use of free verse and the quotidian reflects his aim of reaching out to everyday Americans. This edition features Whitmans most famous poem, Song of Myself, an American epic inspired by his personal experiences.
