Last Snow Jackson Stina (2021)

Selected by The Times as one of the best crime books of 2021, this novel asks what secrets are hidden within the walls of a desolate farmhouse in a forgotten corner of Lapland. Early spring still has its icy grip on desmark, a small village in northernmost Sweden that many inhabitants have abandoned. Liv Bjrnlund has never left. She lives in a derelict house with her teenage son, Simon, and her ageing father, Vidar. They are a peculiar family, and Liv knows that their few remaining neighbours gossip about them. Why has she stayed at her domineering fathers side all these years, and is it true that Vidar is sitting on a small fortune? His questionable business decisions have earned him many enemies, while in desmark everyone knows everyone and no one ever forgets. Now someone wants back what is rightfully theirs, and they will stop at nothing to get it, regardless of who stands in their way.
