Koloto Svt Dvok Otomar (2025)

Writer Otomar Dvok, author of numerous historical novels, presents the work he began writing at the age of seventeen and completed only now, on the threshold of seventy-five. This three-part saga follows the dramatic lives of four generations of his ancestors, who lived in the forested Kivokltsko highlands and made ropes for a living. It portrays the turbulent period from 1890 to 1950, when the old world of folk traditions was shattered by modern technology, wars and historical upheavals. In Dvoks distinctive perspective and vivid storytelling, everyday reality blends with magic, life becomes myth, and grotesque, sometimes fatal stories unfold. The descendants of the mad wanderer and fantasist Maxmilin are carried by fate to every corner of Bohemia and abroad, where they face passion, hatred, violence and intrigue while fighting for their place in the world and their right to love. The book is in Czech.
