Knife Rushdie Salman (2025)

In this gripping account, internationally renowned writer and Booker Prize-winner Salman Rushdie recounts his survival and recovery after the violent attack he endured on 12 August 2022. He was sitting onstage in upstate New York, preparing to give a lecture on the importance of keeping writers safe from harm, when a masked man rushed down the aisle towards him with a knife. His first thought was: So its you. Here you are. Rushdie relives the horrific events of that day and their aftermath, as well as his journey of healing and recovery. This intimate meditation on life, loss, love and art explores the strength needed to stand up again. The book was longlisted for the Baillie Gifford Prize 2024.
