This publication presents Jindra Vikov (born 1946), who has ranked among the leading figures of the Czech and international art scene for many decades. She works as a ceramic artist, sculptor, painter, curator and teacher. Her work has been covered by several monographs, but this is the first time she is presented through a personal account based on interviews, notes and diaries. The book describes her recognition at major ceramics exhibitions, including festivals in Faenza, the Triennale of Porcelain in Nyon, the International Biennale of Ceramic Art in Vallauris, the International Art Festival in Baghdad and the first World Biennale of Ceramics in Icheon. From 1991 to 2003, she taught successively at the University of Michigan, Ohio University and the University of Connecticut. Her work is held in numerous Czech, European and non-European museums and collections. Since 2002, she has led ceramics workshops at the Jarmila Tyrnerov Centre in Kohoutov. She lives and works in Benice near Prague with her lifelong partner, photographer Pavel Banka.
