In 1668, executioner Jakob Kuisl of Schongau travels to Bamberg with his daughter Magdalena and the rest of his family. What begins as a visit for a wedding soon turns into a nightmare when an unknown, brutal murderer starts terrorizing the city. The limbs of his victims are found by the river and at the city gate, and rumors quickly spread that a werewolf is responsible. Jakob Kuisl rejects these superstitions and sets out on his own to find the feared devil of Bamberg.
