This Czech-language publication commemorates the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, a milestone in the history of the Church. In May 2025, the Catholic Church and the wider Christian world commemorated the opening of the council in 325. The council remains chiefly known through the Nicene Creed, which summarises, defines and proclaims faith in salvation through Jesus Christ and in one God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Its importance also lies in the fact that bishops from across the then-known world were invited for the first time, and its decisions had universal validity. The Nicene Creed proclaims the joyful news of salvation accomplished by God in Jesus Christ and invites readers to celebrate the council through praise of Gods glory as revealed in the immense treasure of faith expressed by the creed. The book includes a Czech translation of a document by the International Theological Commission, supplemented by a joint declaration from Pope Leo XIV and Patriarch Bartholomew from November 2025.
