Jabloov leto (slovensky) (2026)

This Slovak-language novel follows the intertwined fates of people brought together by the past, family ties and carefully guarded secrets. Simona, heir to an old apple orchard and guesthouse, follows in the footsteps of the women in her family, whose destinies are reflected in her own story for better and worse. Summer brings new guests to the guesthouse, converted from an old paper mill. Six people who have been left alone meet in an ancient apple orchard in Gemer, where small and great miracles have been taking place for generations. Matilda hides from the world in a mountain solitude, Jlia wanders lost through the world before ending up in Straten, Antnia returns after decades to her most painful subjects and locked-away memories, Eduard mends other peoples hearts while neglecting his own, and Ruby arrives from across the ocean to find her roots and perhaps herself. Amid summer nature, beneath the apple trees and in the whisper of leaves, a story unfolds about mothers and daughters, losses that take root, and discoveries that bloom like an apple tree after winter.
