Hemnkov dol Krnerov Hana Marie (2026)

This Czech-language novel, based on a true story, follows seventeen-year-old Anna, who arrives in Czechoslovakia shortly after the Second World War. She knows the country only from stories and imagines it as a promised land. She does not speak Czech and knows her relatives only from photographs, yet hopes to find a second home with them. Instead, she suddenly finds herself in the beautiful but depopulated landscape of esk stedoho, the Central Bohemian Uplands, and is soon married off to a man she knows nothing about. Despite the difficulties that accompany her almost every day, Anna refuses to give up and manages to win the game of life, whose script was originally written by someone else.
