Headshot Bullwinkel Rita (2025)

This novel follows eight teenage girl boxers who travel to Reno, Nevada, to compete for the title of the best in the country. Each has her own reasons for the sacrifices she has made, while an unexpected tragedy at a community pool and a familys relentless expectation of victory shape the world around them. Through a series of raw, ecstatic confrontations marked by flashes of humor and tenderness, the competitors summon the emotion, imagination, and willpower needed to win. Their stories explore desire, envy, perfectionism, madness, and the sheer physical pleasure that drives young women to fight, even when no one else is watching.
