Gaidin (slovensky) Clavell James (2025)

In the third installment of the Asian Saga, James Clavell returns to Japan at the end of the 19th century, a period of major political and social change. Japan clings to its traditions and resists the growing influence of European immigrants, known as gaijin. Tensions between the two civilizations escalate after an incident on the Tkaid, the main coastal road leading to the shoguns forbidden city. There, two samurai from the Sonn-ji movement attack a group of Europeans and mortally wound one of them. Malcolm Struan, grandson of the famous Dirk Struan and heir to the Noble House, also suffers a serious injury. His care is taken up by the beautiful but impoverished Angelique Richaud, who is drawn into a world of political intrigue, secrets, and passions as she tries to find her place. Representatives of the Western powers demand compensation for the grave incident, and war seems unavoidable. The contents are in Slovak.
