This Czech-language book offers a compelling account by star photographer Frantiek Jirsek, a master of the captured image and one of the last great photographers of his field, who has devoted 40 years to his work. Through his photographs, the public has access not only to an immense collection of unique visual treasures but also to period documents made on various occasions over the decades. Jirsek has established a common language with most of the personalities he has photographed, not only those from show business, and this mutual understanding continues to this day. A significant part of his work is devoted to Karel Gott, who quickly appreciated both Jirsek and his abilities. The photographer recalls their journeys around the world and explains how, when and why the photographs were created, as well as where the unique images came from. Rather than an academic photographic monograph, the book is a collection of lively, clearly well-informed personal memories of environments and situations not freely accessible to everyone.
