Seed plants form a substantial part of the worlds plant communities, and their secondary metabolism produces countless organic molecules, many of which have beneficial effects on the human body and can be used in treatment or prevention. Ludk Jahod examines changes in the botanical classification and nomenclature of taxa represented in the current European Pharmacopoeia and EMA monographs over the past fifteen years, and introduces new plant species that, thanks to research into their active compounds, are attracting the attention of pharmacists, doctors and others interested in the subject.
