Extreme Wilderness – A Survival Handbook (2026)

This survival handbook has been periodically revised since 1987 to keep it up to date, with the author adding knowledge and insights gained through his latest personal experiments related to survival. These experiments take place in environments ranging from glaciers and high mountains to rainforests, deserts, swamps and the open sea. Jaroslav Pavlek and his team have spent more than thirty years at Eco-Nelson, studying survival and lifestyle techniques, and have crossed Greenland, Alaska, the Atacama Desert, other parts of Nepal, the Gran Chaco, Southern Sudan and tribal areas of the Middle East. The youngest participant in these expeditions was two and a half years old, while the oldest was 84. Some participants had disabilities, while others belonged to special units. All these groups could easily find themselves in survival situations and therefore welcomed specialised training.
