Captain Marek Wolf returns to the scene, and this time the case will be far from easy. In the forests on the outskirts of Bratislava, an investigation begins to unfold that makes no sense even to experienced detectives. All that remains of the body found there are bones, yet the victim is wearing the latest model of trainers. Wolf faces an investigation with no clues, no witnesses and no certainty that this is the only murder. With every new discovery, it becomes clear that someone has managed to conceal their crimes for many years. At the same time, Wolfs personal life is falling apart. He tries to save his younger brother from their mothers manic lifestyle, but his efforts reopen old wounds rather than healing them. Just when he can barely cope with his own problems, another brutal case emerges: a dead woman found in an apartment in a condition suggesting a horrifying connection to the earlier discoveries. His colleague Karol Luptk also returns, having to come to terms with his own past before he can investigate again. The case is therefore not only a search for a murderer, but also an examination of the investigators lives, mistakes, weaknesses and hopes for second chances. This dark detective story connects several plotlines and shows that the characters behind brutal crimes can be just as complicated as those investigating them. This Czech-language paperback is a thriller.
