Dubliners Joyce James (2012)

This collection of fifteen stories brings the gritty realism of life in James Joyces native Dublin vividly to life. From a child grappling with the death of a fallen priest, to a young womans dilemma over whether to elope to Argentina with her lover, to a dance party where a man discovers how little he really knows about his wife, the stories use scrupulous, deadpan realism to convey truths that are at once blasphemous and sacramental. With Dubliners, Joyce reinvented the art of fiction. This edition is part of the Penguin English Library, a collection of the best fiction in English from the eighteenth century and the earliest novels through to the beginning of the First World War.
