Dagmar Peckov: The Magical Gallery – CD

The Magical Gallery brings together original compositions inspired by masterpieces of world painting. Composer and producer Darek Krl conceived the project over many years before finding the voice he felt could express everything the recordings required. He chose the seemingly contrasting but natural combination of operatic singing and electronic music, with Dagmar Peckov welcoming the opportunity to perform music written especially for her. The album also features harpist Jana Boukov, cellist Zuzana Dostlov, Epoque Quartet and tenor Richard Samek. Focusing on the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, the project draws on works by ten painters, including Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, Monet, Manet, Modigliani, De Nittis, Klimt, Schiele, Vincent Van Gogh and John Singer Sargent. Each composition is sung in the painters native language. The lyrics are by Luciano Lagazzi, Guillaume Basset, Kate Hamskov and Radka Stahr, and the recording took place at All Senses Production and SONO under the sound direction of tpn koch.
