After Conan rescues a slave girl named Diana, he swears to free her sister Natala as well, in exchange for information about a fabulous treasure rumoured to be lost beneath the desert sands of Stygia. Determined to claim the treasure, Conan and his band of Kushite mercenaries join a motley group of thieves and outlaws led by the disgraced Prince Almurik, a self-important braggart who can think only of plunder and pillage. But the cunning Cimmerian is not the only one seeking the Stygian treasure. Someone else is pursuing the same goal, and that someone is none other than Tot-Amon, the sorcerer of the Black Circle.
