This Czech-language contemporary social novel follows Darina, a young woman searching for herself between the security of the life within her reach and the desire to experience much more. Her relationship with David resembles the routine of a long-term marriage, increasingly forcing her to question whether what she has corresponds to what she truly wants. Her decision becomes more difficult when Roman enters her life, bringing twenty-three years of life experience, including experience with women. As people in their twenties and thirties choose between mortgages and prams or clubs and cheap flights, Darina finds that she has arranged her life so practically that she has accidentally forgotten to live. Can she take a step in the right direction, and if it is the wrong one, can she ever return to the security she once had? The novel explores romantic, family and friendship relationships, human weakness, the sins we commit every day and the seemingly indescribable art of forgiveness.
