Britt – Marie Was Here Backman Fredrik (2016)

Fredrik Backmans funny, poignant and uplifting tale of love, community and second chances follows Britt-Marie, the author of A Man Called Ove. For as long as anyone can remember, Britt-Marie has been an acquired taste. She is not judgemental, fussy or difficult; she simply expects everything to be done in the right way, such as arranging the cutlery drawer in the correct order. Behind this passive-aggressive, socially awkward and absurdly pedantic busybody is a woman with more imagination, bigger dreams and a warmer heart than anyone realises. When she becomes unemployed, separates from her husband of 20 years and is left to fend for herself in Borg, a miserable provincial backwater with little to recommend it beyond a road running through it, she is somehow tasked with running the local football team. Unprepared for this new life, Britt-Marie discovers that it may offer more than she ever imagined, and that love can be found in the most unexpected places.
