Book of Lives Atwoodov Margaret (2025)

Margaret Atwood explores her life and writing, from a peripatetic childhood in the forests of northern Quebec to the creation of The Handmaid’s Tale and her position as a literary figure. Raised by scientifically minded parents, she spent much of each year in the wilderness with her entomologist father and independent mother. Atwood links important moments in her life to the books they inspired, including Cats Eye and The Handmaid’s Tale, while reflecting on nature, reading, political change and her lifelong love for the writer Graeme Gibson. Along the way, she recalls poets, bears, Hollywood stars and other larger-than-life figures. Her memoir examines the connections between real life and art, and the ways her experiences have shaped her writing. The contents are in English.
