Blue Effect 33 – CD

Originally released in 1981 as M. Efekt, this album was always intended by Radim Hladk to be reissued under his groups original name, Blue Effect. It is the bands final full-length studio work with new material and the culmination of its art-rock period. Alongside brilliant guitarist and bandleader Hladk are outstanding drummer Vlado ech and distinctive singer and keyboardist Leek Semelka, who returned to contribute both as a composer and performer to four expansive pieces. Half of the albums music comes from Semelka on side two and the other half from Hladk on side one. The unifying element is the unconstrained, poetic and vividly visualizable verse of Pavel Vrba. This reissue includes the complete song lyrics, reviews and articles assessing the album, and a found photograph. The outer LP sleeve, featuring an illustration by Petr Ss, frames the music in an appropriately dreamlike mood. Blue Effect/M. Efekt in this lineup disbanded shortly after recording the album, but three live CD bonus tracks capture the groups exceptionally powerful moments from 1980: Tiaticet, Avignonsk sleny z Prahy, and Kohoutek kamardstv dokapv.
