This enduring novel follows White Fang, a cross between a dog and a wolf, as he fearlessly overcomes the dangers of life in the harsh Arctic wilderness, only to be nearly destroyed by human cruelty and malice. Jack Londons masterful portrayal of his adventures is complemented by reflections on the merciless laws of life. One of Londons most famous works, the story has been adapted for film and also inspired a popular childrens television series. Following his best-known novel The Call of the Wild, London explores the opposite transformation, as a wild wolf becomes a domesticated dog. A central theme is the influence of the environment on an individuals personality and behaviour. In the inhospitable northern wilderness, only the strongest survive, but through this novel London shows that love and kindness can change a persons nature just as profoundly as violence.
