Asi v tom bude njakej hek – LP

This LP presents a legendary album and a musical greeting for Jan Splens eightieth birthday. Although Splen has recorded beautiful music throughout his career, this solo album, made without ASPM and supported by excellent studio musicians, is to some extent unique in his discography. Alongside his versatile singing and instrumental work, it features Petr Kalandra on harmonica and vocals, Michal Pavlek on guitars, Ji Vesel on bass guitar and accordion, and Ji Hrube on drums and percussion. With no synthesizers, it offers the pure pleasure of a cohesive repertoire performed by outstanding musicians and carried by Splens distinctive voice. The album contains just two covers, with the remaining songs drawn from Splens own substantial repertoire and featuring lyrics by Pavel Vrba, Petr Kalandra, Zdenk Ryt and the composer himself. Lightly melancholy and gently ironic, it combines seemingly resigned singing with hidden energy, distinctive sentiment and credibility in every note and word. This remastered edition is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features a reconstructed cover by original graphic designer Karel Haloun and photographer Jaroslav Prokop, restored for the first time to its intended 1985 form, including a photograph of emigrated drummer Hrube that was originally suppressed. The tracklist includes Myslm te na tebe, moje milovan, U zrezly bezy, Stoup dm, Aceton blues, Asi v tom bude njakej hek, Bojler blues, pitl u sv. Jakuba (Saint James Infirmary Blues), Hdej, Tak jo, M lsky pouov, Mezi behy and Blues Ndrn ulice (Basin Street Blues).
