Ahoj Tato – Mil Kubo Ursiny Do (2025)

This Czech-language book brings together letters exchanged by Deo Ursiny and his son Jakub. In 1994, Jakub moved into his fathers apartment. Sensing that the end of his life was approaching and feeling that he had to pass on his life experience to his son, Deo began writing him letters, and Jakub responded in kind. The result is a unique dialogue between father and son about the most essential questions of life and death, which is always dangerously close. Although the letters travelled only from one room to another, they fulfilled their purpose. In the foreword, poet Ivan trpka describes the gentle yet evident process taking place in the letters: the inevitable process of becoming conscious and loving sons and fathers, and more complete human beings.
