A Declaration of the Rights of Magicians Parry H. G. (2020)

A sweeping tale of revolution and wonder, this genre-defying fantasy is set in a world not quite like our own during the Age of Enlightenment, when new magical political movements are emerging. The necromancer Robespierre calls for revolution in France, the weather mage Toussaint L’Ouverture leads the enslaved people of Haiti in their fight for freedom, and Britains new Prime Minister William Pitt considers legalizing magic among commoners and abolishing slavery throughout the countrys overseas colonies. Amid this upheaval, an unknown force is driving human civilization into violent conflict. Revolutionaries, magicians and abolitionists must join forces to unmask the hidden enemy before the whole world descends into chaos. The book combines carefully researched history with a fascinating system of magic and explores the human faces of figures from the past while adding supernatural elements to their stories.
