88,2 FM – Zrod legendy (2026)

This book looks back on 36 remarkable years since the emergence of a phenomenon in the Czech radio airwaves. Leona Machlkov, the Gondk siblings, Luk Hrzal and Vtek Pokorn began their careers at Evropa 2, while the station later made stars of Leo Mare, Patrik Hezuck and Renta Kajdas. The book describes the phenomenal and remarkably rapid arrival of the first private radio station in the post-communist airwaves through the memories of the members of Evropa 2s first team of presenters, supplemented by recollections from other colleagues. Compiled by Libor prysl, it also reveals who discovered Leo Mare, now Evropa 2s biggest star, in the second half of the 1990s. These memories capture a time of rapid change, when Evropa 2 could be heard everywhere there was a radio and the emergence of the first private station was shaped by a chain of coincidences that led to phenomenal success. The book is neither a diary nor a history book, but a collective portrait of the 1990s seen from the participants perspectives. Each person remembers something different, creating a vivid picture of the era, from one party to the next, with the presenters setting out again after a quick touch-up.
