Black Cake: The compelling and beautifully written New York Times bestseller 2022 Wilkerson Charmaine (2023)

When Eleanor Bennetts estranged children, Benny and Byron, reunite for her funeral, they receive an unexpected inheritance: a traditional Caribbean black cake reminding them of their roots, and the story of a decades-old murder that shatters everything they thought they knew about their mother. As they unravel their familys troubled past, the truth may either drive them further apart or reunite them and fulfil Eleanors final wish. Charmaine Wilkersons debut novel explores identity, family, home and the lifelong pull of the Caribbean diaspora.
