London, 1922. Alan and Violet Schofield are Englands leading specialists in magical photography, meeting the growing demand for images of supernatural beings that has spread through London society after two girls from Cottingley convince Sir Arthur Conan Doyle that they have photographed fairies. In the years following the First World War, commissions pour in, as people seek photographs proving that mysterious creatures inhabit their homes and gardens. The Schofields good fortune changes when shadows from the past enter their lives and they are forced to convince the feared Percival Drake, a cunning and ruthless man who firmly rejects anything magical, that fairies exist. To save their lives, Alan and Violet embark on a dangerous undertaking. This Czech-language fantasy novel is by the author of The Map of Time.
