Dark Tales Jackson Shirley (2017)

This collection of Shirley Jacksons finest and darkest short stories reveals the queen of American gothic at her most mesmerising. There is something nasty in suburbia: the daily commute becomes a nightmarish game of hide-and-seek, a loving wife conceals homicidal thoughts, and a concerned citizen may be an infamous serial killer. In Jacksons haunting world, nothing is as it seems and nowhere is safe, from city streets to a country manor, a small-town apartment and the dark woods. The collection includes The Possibility of Evil, Louisa, Please Come Home, Paranoia, The Honeymoon of Mrs Smith, The Story We Used to Tell, The Sorcerers Apprentice, Jack the Ripper, The Beautiful Stranger, All She Said Was Yes, What a Thought, The Bus, Family Treasures, A Visit, The Good Wife, The Man in the Woods, Home, and The Summer People.
