Scattershot: Life, Music, Elton and Me Taupin Bernie (2023)

In this memoir, Bernie Taupin, the lyricist behind Elton Johns words and half of one of popular musics greatest creative partnerships, finally tells his own story. Written with honesty and candour, Scattershot follows events from Taupins singular perspective, sometimes at the centre and sometimes at the edge, but always with the vibrant energy of a vivid songwriters prose. From his childhood in Englands East Midlands, where country music and cowboy mythology sparked his imagination, to the glittering, star-filled world of 1970s and 1980s Beverly Hills, he introduces readers to legends, cowboys, geniuses, unforgettable faces, shady dealers and warriors of the heart. Warm, witty and emotionally true, this freewheeling memoir offers the life of an artist shaped by lifelong innocence, endless curiosity and an irresistible need to write, whether sober, clear-headed or intoxicated. It is a story of Taupins life, music and extraordinary half-century creative relationship with Elton John.
