This Czech-language graphic novel follows Vra, a young girl from a small town who travels West to study art. The bohemian artistic life she imagined does not materialize, and neither is the university what its advertising promised. Those around her see her not as an ordinary girl but as yet another foreigner. The political situation, influenced by Brexit propaganda, adds to the ordinary difficulties of growing up. When Vra loses her initial ideals, she has no choice but to accept her new reality and embark on a journey of self-discovery. The book includes a separate 48-page booklet, Vras Guide to Culture Shock, in which Vra humorously and sympathetically guides readers through the pitfalls of life in a foreign country. It is intended for people who already live abroad or are preparing to do so.
