Cesta do Tridenta – Vjevy z obyejnho ivota France M. Kovi Kajetan (2026)

This Czech-language novel by Slovenian poet and prose writer Kajetan Kovi quietly unfolds as a grand celebration of ordinary human life, which becomes a unique, colourful and moving adventure. The narrator, the authors alter ego, follows the life of his uncle France M., a merchant, soldier and innkeeper whose journey from Viennas salons through the Galician front to the vineyards of his native Slovenia contains everything that defines human existence: passion, foolishness, pain, laughter and reconciliation. With poetic sensitivity and a sense of irony, Kovi brings a vanished world to life, from the carefree whirl of Viennese waltzes to the raw reality of war, showing that even the simplest moments contain the poetry of being. Filled with the scents of wine, songs, sadness and joy, the novel is written with understanding for every human weakness and reminds us why life is always worth saying yes to.
