Thunderhead (2026)

This is the sequel to Scythe, the New York Times bestseller and a Time Magazine Best YA Book of All Time. Professional scythes control who dies, while everything else is managed by the Thunderhead, a system that seems perfect until it begins to fail. A year after Rowan went off-grid, he is hunted by the Scythedom and has become an urban legend, a vigilante who eliminates corrupt scythes. Citra, meanwhile, follows her own path as Scythe Anastasia, carrying out gleanings with compassion. Conflict within the Scythedom grows, and when Citras life is threatened, a terrifying plot comes to light. The Thunderhead observes everything and does not like what it sees. Will it intervene, or simply watch as this perfect world unravels? Thunderhead is the second book in Neal Shustermans award-winning series, which also includes Scythe, The Toll and Gleanings.
