Living in Problematicity (2020)

Spanning Jan Patokas entire life, from one of his first articles to one of his last, this selection of texts explores the appropriate manner of being and engagement in the world. Patoka examines the philosophers role, the way ideology constrains us, and how freedom becomes possible through recognition of our human condition in the problematicity of the world. These ideas outline his political philosophy and show how his later engagement with the political sphere through Charter 77 corresponds with principles he maintained throughout his life.
