Zpv Karel Gott – CD

This special reissue presents Karel Gotts debut album, originally assembled from stylistically varied singles recorded in 1964 and 1965. The fourteen songs document both the musical atmosphere of the period and the first stage of Gotts remarkable career, when he worked mainly with large orchestras including Karel Vlachs Orchestra and the TOR. The one-off exception is Adrest neznm, accompanied by Olympic in a Beatles-influenced arrangement. Alongside international inspirations, the repertoire includes valuable Czech contributions, notably the Semafor-associated Oi snhem zavt and songs by established composers Ji Baant and Alfons Jindra. Remastered sound, a reconstructed cover and documentary sleeve notes make this reissue an engaging reminder of the mid-1960s. The programme includes Angelina, Oi snhem zavt, Maria, That Old Lucky Sun, Adrest neznm (From Me to You), Tam, kde um proud, Pval ple (Rawhide), Jezebel, Msn eka (Moon River), M oi ed, Kam b vtr (Red Sails in the Sunset), Pou, Pta ne (Oh, Lonesome Me) and J u vm (I Believe).
