Povdali, e mu hrli – LP

This reissue presents Michael Kocbs first solo album. As an instrumentalist, singer, composer and arranger, Kocb has been a major figure on the Czech cultural scene since the second half of the 1970s. After moving from classical music through jazz and jazz rock to Prask vbr, he became associated with a Czech version of the new wave supported by unusually brilliant musicianship. The album follows his major film, theatre, exhibition and other projects of the 1980s and his gradual inclination towards chanson. It contains studio recordings from 1986 to 1988, with lyrics ranging from ironic dadaism to layered stories, primarily written by Michal Horek. Songs such as Sebastin, Chrli and J rasisty nikdy neml rd are framed by the playful Kdy pijede Kocbinka, moving from clever humour towards even more thoughtful reflection. Kocb, Pavlek, ok and Krypn, joined by guests Pokorn, Kulhnek and Chlumeck, create an engaging recording featuring instruments such as Drumtrack, guitar synthesizer and drumulator. The tracklist is: Kdy pijede Kocbinka, ivot m tp, No a co ti schz, Bludit dn, Kaskadr, Sebastin, Kdy pijede Kocbinka, Chrli, Pn vtah, J rasisty nikdy neml rd and Sny spravedlivch.
