Staroesk vnoce – CD

Christmas music-making from the nineteenth century, showing how Christmas was celebrated 200 years ago. Singer Kateina Kosov has tracked down and arranged for this album a collection of witty, lively yet long-forgotten carols from different parts of the country. With violin, cello, transverse flute and recorder, the musicians capture the atmosphere of Christmas in a nineteenth-century rural cottage. The recording is interwoven with readings of Christmas texts by J. Vrchlick, F. rmek, J. ep and B. Bridel, as well as the Gospel, in a masterful performance by Alfrd Strejek. An unknown drawing by Josef Lada on the cover invites listeners to discover a Christmas CD unlike any previously available.
