Karel O.S.T. – 2 CD

A year of mourning for Karel Gott is commemorated by a documentary filmed by Jan Mal and directed by Olga Malov ptov. Seven hours of edited source material have been transformed into a two-hour record of all stages of the singers life, with special attention paid to his final seasons. This emotionally powerful visual account, intended for cinemas from mid-October, is naturally full of music. The accompanying two-CD release offers a maximum selection of the songs featured in the film. Alongside numerous hits, it also includes songs important to the exploration of Gotts life and career, including recordings sung in German and tracks that complement the films narrative. More than 40 songs are arranged roughly chronologically and presented in packaging featuring the film posters artwork, with an extensive booklet containing historical photographs, reportage images from the filming and personal recollections by director Olga Malov ptov and the singers wife, Ivana. This valuable contribution to Gotts remarkably extensive discography is unique in the context of its creation and cannot be compared with ordinary compilations. The soundtrack is especially significant because it places the songs in new contexts shaped by the biographical documentary. The tracklist includes It Takes a Worried Man, Cest la vie, All Shook Up, Maria, Dl a na msc (Fly Me to the Moon / In Other Words), Zlodj dobytka (You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby), So far, Nech m spt, ter, Oi snhem zavt, Dotkat se hvzd, Kdepak, ty ptku, hnzdo m?, Bl Vnoce (White Christmas), Lsko m (Unchained Melody), Na krsnm modrm Dunaji, Bum, bum, bum, Due, Korunou si hodm (Down on the Corner), M prvn lska se dnes vdv (You Are Such a Good Looking Woman), … a to mm rd, V mji (Il mondo), aluju ptkm (When We Were Young), Lady Carneval, Poli to dl, Weisst du wohin (Somewhere My Love), Schicksalsmelodie (Love Story), Die Biene Maja, Hej, pni konel, Rot und schwarz (Paint It Black), Ja otkryvaju dver (J brny u otvrm), Pro ptci zpvaj, Srdce nehasnou, In einer Welt fr uns zwei (Rain in My Heart), Kam tenkrt el mj bratr Jan (All by Myself), Poehnej, Boe mj (Theres a Kind of Hush), Oh, Marie (Maria, Mari!), Stokrt chvlm as (Sometimes When We Touch), Konec ptach ri, Rno jedu dl, Jdi za tstm, Kdy jsem j byl tenkrt kluk (Yesterday When I Was Young / Hier encore), Jdi za tstm (edit 2020), Karel Gott hovo o psni and Together Again.
