Kiks – LP

This vinyl album brings together thirteen new songs by Vlastimil Tek, released nearly ten years after his previous album Alter ego. Created in 2022, Kiks presents each song as a small Tek-style monodrama, sometimes sharply ironic and sometimes cloaked in surreal fog filled with codes to decipher. Attentive listeners may also notice symbolism in the sequence of the songs, from the opening Kiks to a sigh over the absent Vclav Havel. The musical arrangements developed from the beginning in collaboration with Josef tpnek and Jan Steinsdrfer, who were joined in the Temporary Quintet by bassist Martin Lehk, drummer Milo Dvoek, saxophonist Jan tolba and oboist Pavel Tylar. Adam Pakosta recorded the album at Soundevice studio. Soon after its release, the recording received numerous enthusiastic reviews, was included on the longlist for the Andl Award in the folk album category and appeared in Proglas radios album of the year poll. The vinyl edition is limited to 300 numbered copies.
