This Czech-language book covers Pragues history from the Battle of White Mountain through the Enlightenment, from 1620 to the 1780s. Art historian Vt Vlnas presents the citys material and spiritual transformations as a unified cultural phenomenon whose traces remain visible in Prague today, with Baroque shaping much of the citys genius loci. As an informed guide, he follows a walk through the city from Prague Castle to Vyehrad, via Hradany, Mal Strana, the Old Town and the New Town, while a separate section covers Baroque monuments outside the historic centre.
