The Town and the City Kerouac Jack (2001)

Kerouacs debut novel is a compelling coming-of-age story and an essential prelude to his later classics. Inspired by grief over his fathers death and driven by a determination to write the Great American Novel, he draws largely on his own childhood in New England. Kerouac described it as the sum of myself, as far as the written word can go.
