A Snake Lies Waiting: Legends of the Condor Heroes 3 Yong Jin (2020)

The Chinese Lord of the Rings, now available in English for the first time, follows Guo Jing in China in 1200. After confronting Apothecary Huang on Peach Blossom Island and defeating the villainous Gallant Ouyang in three trials to win Huangs daughter Lotus, Guo Jing is caught in a trap with his sworn brother Zhou Botong of the Quanzhen Sect and his shifu, Count Seven Hong, Chief of the Beggar Clan. Huang tricks them into boarding an unseaworthy barge, and they will surely drown unless Lotus, who has overheard her fathers plans, can save them. Even if they survive the voyage, greater dangers await on the mainland. Jin Prince Wanyan Honglie has gathered unscrupulous warriors to help him find the lost writings of the Great Song patriot General Yue Fei. If he succeeds, the Jin armies will gain the key to total victory over the Song Empire, condemning Guo Jings countrymen to centuries of servitude. Translated from the Chinese by Anna Holmwood and Gigi Chang.
